Geotechnical engineers focus on how the ground, where a building is built on or that is to be built on, will interact with the infrastructure. They study the rocks and the soil to determine what needs to be done for the project to be successful.

Construction and management engineers manage and oversee the construction project. They plan and organize everything before, during and after the construction project. This includes the physical building process, the transportation of materials and site development. The work needs to be done safely, efficiently and in an environmentally sensitive way. They also need to manage the people, assets and money spent.
